ADP RUN Purchase Guide: Get a Quote You Can Actually Compare
A quote-focused ADP RUN purchase guide covering package scope, payroll tax setup, add-on pricing, implementation, parallel payroll, and support ownership.
Buy ADP RUN for provider scale and payroll confidence
ADP RUN is best for small businesses that want a major payroll provider, established tax infrastructure, and room to add HR, time, benefits, insurance, and compliance services over time. The buying process should be quote-driven and specific, because the public page is not enough to compare total cost.
This is especially important for companies that expect payroll rules, locations, or employee types to become more complex during the next year.
Build the quote line by line
Ask ADP to separate base payroll, per-employee or per-payroll fees, setup, W-2 and 1099 handling, additional states, off-cycle runs, time tracking, workers compensation, retirement, HR services, and integrations. Capture promotional pricing and the post-promotion renewal price in writing.
Ask the salesperson to put every assumption into the quote so the renewal conversation is based on the same scope you approved.
Prepare payroll data before implementation
Collect EIN and state tax IDs, pay schedules, employee and contractor records, year-to-date wages, deductions, garnishments, benefits, bank funding details, and prior payroll reports. Clean data before ADP setup so the first run is not also a data cleanup project.
If year-to-date wages are wrong at implementation, every later tax report becomes harder to trust.
Implementation sequence
Start with company tax setup, worker import, pay schedules, earnings and deduction codes, direct deposit, accounting integration, and administrator permissions. Then configure optional services such as time, HR, retirement, or insurance only after core payroll is stable.
Keep optional modules out of the first milestone unless they are required for the first live pay run.
Parallel payroll test
Run one full payroll in parallel before switching. Compare gross wages, taxes, deductions, employer taxes, net pay, direct deposit timing, and accounting entries. Any mismatch should be explained and fixed before ADP becomes the system of record.
A parallel payroll is also the best time to train the internal owner on reports and approval screens.
Support and tax notice ownership
Document who to contact for payroll errors, tax notices, employee access issues, and urgent off-cycle payroll. ADP is most valuable when the support path is clear before payday pressure arrives.
Save the support contacts and case process somewhere outside ADP so the team can find them during a payroll emergency.
